CrossFit Vs. Crossfit

First of all, what is CrossFit? CrossFit is a combination of a number of exercises, including aerobics, calisthenics, and weightlifting, among many others. The point of CrossFit training is to build strength, condition the body, and improve overall fitness. How to do this, and which types of training you focus on may vary from individual to individual based on their personal fitness goals, but because CrossFit spans a wide range of workouts, you’re sure to find something to fit your regimen for your daily workout.

That’s not the end of it, though. CrossFit isn’t just about the workout; it’s also about promoting the best health you can for your body. This means nutrition plans that help you lose weight and build muscle, as well as cutting out grains and high-sugar carbs, and eating more protein and fiber-rich foods.

The difference with the capitalization is the license of the gym. A gym that uses CrossFit, like Fit For Life, is licensed to offer CrossFit training from CrossFit HQ. Other gyms may provide CrossFit-inspired workouts, but they don’t have a license from the organization, so they lowercase the “f.”

History of CrossFit

CrossFit was founded in 1996 by Grey Glassman and Lauren Jenai, before becoming a corporation in 2000. The first official CrossFit gym was located in Santa Cruz, and in the first 10 years, CrossFit was slow to spread, with only 13 affiliate gyms by 2005. That said, when CrossFit hit its stride as a workout regimen, it boomed, and now there are over 13,000 CrossFit gyms worldwide.

CrossFit has only expanded since then. It went from a regimen taught in other gyms to having its own workout studios. There are even CrossFit Games, which are like its own mini-Olympics for athletes, where competitors have to power through workouts they’ve learned only hours beforehand. The games have since extended online to the CrossFit Open, where new workouts are released for five weeks for all levels of athletes to participate in.

Daily Workouts

CrossFit workouts should happen every day in order to reach maximum efficiency in your body. However, your Workout Of the Day (WOD) should change regularly in order for you to hit as many of the 10 fitness domains as you can. Overdoing a workout will only set you back in your progress. While you should always be pushing yourself to improve, don’t do it to the point that you regress.
